This is a new body of work by Evan and Stacey Smith that uses objects to represent bodies in an exploration of relationships with ourselves and others. Each piece extracts objects of culture and creates “parables” that tell a story without a specific ending. These narratives, left to the viewers interpretation, present ideas surrounding relationships with families, individuals, and ourselves as both interconnected and isolating. This work uses poetics to portray the human experience felt in difficult conversations, sexual tension, social relationship and sacred encounters. In the exploration of these themes, Evan and Stacey are continuing a journey of self-discovery together while providing anecdotes they have learned along the way.
